I am very excited to announce  that the sevice asset and configuration management feature has now been added to the service desk product. Be sure to test this feature on the demo site. You will also find an easy to use graphical relationship editor for all service assets and configuration items.

The asset management and configuration management modules are extremely flexible. Users can define new asset types and then associate existing attributes to the assets. Users can also create many different types of custom fields for the new asset types.

Configuration items can also be created in a similar fashion. There are pre-defined configuration item types but users have the flexibility of not only creating new CI types but also defining the attributes for these Configuration Items.

When an asset or CI is created, you will be able to set up relationship map for the assets. The current version of the relationship editor allows for creating five different relationship types for any assets or configuration items. In future version, we plan to make this more flexible,
